What is an EHCP
An EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan. or sometimes called an EHC Plan) is a legal document that describes your child’s needs and the extra support they must get to help them learn and develop.
It covers:
- What your child finds difficult and what they need help with
- The support that must be put in place, and who will provide it
- Goals for your child’s learning, health, and wellbeing
It’s for children and young people up to the age of 25 who need more help than their school or nursery can usually give.
You can think of it as a clear, written promise from the local authority about the help your child will get, so everyone knows what must happen and when.
